Frequently Asked Questions

  • What makes your car wash better than the $7 corner (auto or hand) wash?
Answer me this: if I take a cheap microfiber towel or brush and clean a big dirty truck that went through mud, would you be ok with us using that same towel or brush on your vehicle 10 minutes later? Of course, not. Corner hand washes, gas station washes, and automatic car washes use cheap dirty and super abrasive brushes and towels on your car that leave an insane amount of damage. Plus, those ‘hot wax’ treatments are pure chemical death to your paint. We use the highest quality microfiber, car shampoos, chemicals, and definitely no brushes on paint!
  • How often should I wash my vehicle?
That depends on the situation of the vehicle’s lifestyle but here’s our rule of thumb for a daily driver (that’s coated): Regular washes every week and depending on the usage of the vehicle, a detail every 1-3 months.
  • Why (properly) wash my car?
Different reasons for different aspects. For a “trade in” type of owner; a car is probably the worst investment a person can make. Paid $60,000 now, next year it’s worth $45,000 but the dealer won’t give you anything over $37,000. Although, a dealer will have a $3,000-$10,000 wiggle room depending on what condition the car is. Properly washing and maintaining your car can get you more money back when the time comes. For the “car enthusiast” a car is a part of you, an extra limb or materialistic embodiment of your soul. Caring for it and keeping it clean is caring for yourself. Finally, for the “Average Joe” who just doesn’t care; would you wear dirty stained cloths that people can see and smell you in everyday? No. So why drive a dirty (and possible) smelly car that people can see you in everyday?
  • I can't afford to keep having my car detailed. What do I do?
No problem! We will teach you how to maintain the work we do. 60% of swirls and marring on paint is done from improper washing. If you let us detail your car then bring it to the local $7 “swirl-o-matic” car wash every time it gets dirty, our work would be for nothing. Those places scratch your vehicle like crazy! Ask us for maintenance advise and we’ll teach you what to do and what products to buy to keep the showroom shine up!
  • What is Clay Bar?
First, understand that simply washing your car will not clean it 100%. There are surface contaminants (industrial fallout, overspray, chem-trails, bugs, etc.) that are stuck and need more aggressive ways of removing. Clay (specific clay that’s meant for cars, not regular clay) is soft enough and sticky enough to pick up everything off the surface of your vehicle while conforming to the shape of the area you’re working in. However, clay isn’t always needed and can marr or lightly scratch the surface, so use only when necessary. With experience, touch is the best way to know if you need clay and in the case you do, depending on the surface and situation, we use a clay bar or a synthetic clay mitt with a proper lubricant, or chemical solutions to cleanse the surface safley.
  • Will waxing remove scratching on my car?
NO! Wax is there to protect the surface and add a bit of gloss and shine. In some cases, people do more damage to the surface because they rub the hell out of their car with some cheap wax on a dirty towel. The friction ends up scratching it even further. So, no. just no. Infact, we dont even use wax anymore. Dated tech.
  • What is the difference between wax, sealant, and coatings?"
Wax originates from Brazilian Carnauba Wax that grows on the leaves of trees to protect them from the hot elements near the equator. Although it is pushed through and mixed with other chemicals by the time it’s in stores, it’s natural origin allows for an extreme color depth and nice shine but short life span. The melting point for wax is usually around 100 degrees, evaporates within 10-14 days, and is very weak against chemicals that can potentially harm your surface. Sealants are synthetic waxes based on polymers. They are much more resistant to heat and chemicals and have a life span of 3-6 months, but they don’t offer such a great shine like wax. That’s why most detailers will tell you they are putting a layer of wax on top of sealant so you can get the best of both worlds. Coatings are based of Silica and/or nano-polymers consisting of ceramics, glass, and/or teflon. This mixture allows them to be very thick and very hard. While wax and sealants offer no real thickness to paint, a coating can add .5-3 microns to the surface. Paint is usually rated at a 3H-4H hardness. While wax and sealants can’t be measured due to their softness, a coating can be rated at 7H-9H on the hardness scale. This gives coatings the capability to last 1-7 years and offer the most intense shine, gloss, and color depth.
  • Is there something you can put to make my car scratch proof?
NO. And if you find someone that says otherwise, run. Yes, coatings are semi-permanent and are much harder than clear coat so naturally they will be more scratch resistant than paint/clear coat, but if you see someone advertising a 10-year scratch proof coating, they are liars! PLEASE understand: swirls, mars, scratches, holograms, spider cracks, etc. are inevitable! Our jobs as Detailers is to fix the damage that there is and do the best possible job of minimizing the damage that’s to come. Due to that, some say that there’s no point to coatings. Well I’d rather scratch a coating that will disappear in 1-3 years instead of repainting a car.
  • What are those yellow spots on my white paint?
Hopefully they aren’t rust on open metal surface where paint chips possibly occurred, but usually it’s a surface contaminant of iron and carbon particles from your brakes and exhaust combined with dirt and chemicals from the outer surrounding elements. Normally we would use an iron remover and follow it with a clay decontamination but in the case of soft and sensitive paint, we would use a medium-heavy duty clay and follow it with a light polish to remove any possible marrs created. In any case, a coating would be highly recommended.
  • What about vinyl wrap, plasti-dip, matte, & satin finishes?"
Every vehicle is unique. We use the highest quality products on all types of surfaces and products that are built for that specific surface. From cleaners to coatings, your surface is in good hands with us.
  • How do you choose the products you use?
With a background in chemistry, we look deep into the chemical construction of the products we are thinking of using to make sure there’s no funny business in there. Then comes the testing phase. Our policy is simple: if it’s good enough for your cars, then it should be good enough for ours. Every product we use has been thoroughly tested on multiple vehicles of our own to ensure the ultimate secure result.
  • How long will you have my car for?
That depends on the service you require combined with the size of the vehicle and damage there is to deal with. Time frames can vary from 15 minutes to 48+ hours and of course we’ll give you an accurate range once we estimate your vehicle.
